Being a car guy, with the same keen eye many hobbyist share, the technical accuracy of Michael's subject matter is as important as the setting and the story. So, having owned several Mustangs over the years, many of Michael's early pieces featured the famous Pony Car—he had the technical knowledge as well a an abundance of research and reference material at his fingertips. The result is a Ford portfolio that includes both classic and modern Mustang Fastbacks and Convertibles, Mach 1s, Boss 302s, Boss 429s and Shelbys. Not to mention the AC Cobra, Daytona Coupe, Ford GT and GT40Cougar Eliminator, and other big block Ford/Mercury beasts.

"Of all the movies that I've seen that involve a high speed chase — and I've seen a lot, these 5 chases are my favorite. I always enjoy watching American muscle cars elude the authorities through high-speed pursuit, spectacular stunts and incredible crashes, as they are pushed beyond their limits. But, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an... "Of all the movies that I've seen...

“Evolution of a Legend was inspired by the 30th anniversay of Ford's Mustang in 1994. I wanted to capture the details that have over the years made this particular car truly unique. I painted it before the actual release of the new model, so that the detail of the 1994 Mustang is based on a conceptual design. Ford's final choice was very close to the one... “Evolution of a Legend was inspired...

“Like most sports car or muscle car owners, I’d love to be able to drive my car on a legendary race track! If I owned a Ford GT, the ultimate driving thrill would be at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. My idea for this painting was to capture that split second when all three GT drivers realize they are re-enacting the actions of the three GT40s as, in 1966, they... “Like most sports car or muscle car...

"I was fortunate to have attended the Mustang's 40th Anniversary at the Nashville Super Speedway. It was there, that I first laid eyes on Ford's newest retro-styled muscle car in the classic retro color, Legend Lime. Being the proud owner of an original Lime Gold 1967 GTA Convertible, I just had to capture the moment!" MICHAEL IRVINE "I was fortunate to have attended the...

“Whether fixed up or not, street driven or trailered, a vintage classic or fresh from the showroom-the true Mustang enthusiast appreciates them all. At a car show in 1996, surrounded by late model Mustangs, the idea for From Showroom to Showfield first came to me. It's taken a while but I think the result was worth the wait!"- MICHAEL IRVINE “Whether fixed up or not, street...

“They [the Toronto Ford Dealers] wanted to honor Mr. Cruickshank's contribution to the industry. His family had been in transportation sales since before motorized cars! He was retiring and selling the dealership, it was the end of an era. I wanted to show the evolution of the vehicles, using the transition from the buggy in the unprotected outdoors to... “They [the Toronto Ford Dealers]...

“With Grand Touring I wanted to take the idea of the reflections one step further. In showing the under carriage I hope to give credit to all those car owners that spend so much time restoring and detailing the part of the car which is rarely ever seen. One of the greatest compliments I have received came at the All Ford Nationals. I met someone who had... “With Grand Touring I wanted to take...

“The idea for Kings of the Road came to me after taking in the Shelby convention at Watkins Glen, New York. I was lucky enough to meet Carroll Shelby himself and see the Shelbys roaring around the track, that in itself was inspiration enough."- MICHAEL IRVINE “The idea for Kings of the Road came...

“It was a personal thrill to participate in the 30th Anniversary Show at the Charlotte Motor Speedway in the summer of 1994. Mach Speed was inspired by not only the location, but the roar of the engines as they took to the track. The Speedway was the natural setting in which to portray the aerodynamic styling of the Mach I."- MICHAEL IRVINE “It was a personal thrill to...

"When the Motor City Marauders approached me about doing a painting featuring the 2003/2004 Marauder, they mentioned that each year they put on a show at the Burger King right on Woodward Ave. When Linda, the kids, and I attended the Cruise a few years back, it seemed like Duggan's was definatley a hot spot. I liked the look of the awning and signage at... "When the Motor City Marauders...

"This painting was as fun to create as it was challenging. I really wanted to be true to the movie and the time period, while incorporating not only the car itself, but also the spirit of the 2001 Bullitt. Taking the scene from the opposite side of the street, gave me the opportunity to give the viewer a different perspective. It also allowed me to show... "This painting was as fun to create...

“Over the years, Shelbys have been available in a multitude of color combinations, but for many enthusiasts, the striking and memorable white with blue stripes, represents the purest of the breed. At first glance, it's easily the most recognizable. In choosing the setting, I wanted to take that color scheme, one step further by 'hiding' the cars in the... “Over the years, Shelbys have been...
