“Creating the last painting in a trilogy gives me the satisfaction of finishing the story as I imagine it. For me, the scene is complete — the first and last paintings acting as bookends. Complex, detail intensive and technically challenging, I hope that a painting like this sparks the imagination of the viewer — enabling you to continue to explore the pathways or make your own, by moving between the cars and getting lost in the reflections."- MICHAEL IRVINE

“Blue Bloods Behind the Barn” joins "Blue Blocks Behind the Barn" (2019) and "Big Blocks Behind the Barn" (2006) in creating Michael's captivating all-Ford trilogy. Individually, each stunning watercolor painting brings to life the story that enthusiasts, as well as collectors worldwide, dream about — of discovering a rare collection of ready-to-drive, high-performance vintage automobiles sitting just beyond the weathered buildings on a secluded farm. There is no rust to be found in this colorful rural landscape, and each vehicle only needs some fresh gas and maybe air in the tires in order to be driven.
There are over 25 such near-perfect vehicles in “Blue Bloods Behind the Barn”. Included in the remarkable inventory are Mustangs, Shelbys, Cougars, Ford trucks, Broncos, Rancheros, a Maverick, a Cobra, and even a Sunbeam Tiger, making this painting the most ambitious endeavor of the trilogy. Although this is technically the final painting in the series, it is actually the first painting in the scene!
