“In my opinion, and I don't think I'm alone in this, 1979 brought us great music, great movies, and great fashion! LOL. It also offered up one last chance to order the Pontiac 400 W72 with a 4spd combo or the Chevy 350, before they were dropped from the option list the following year. Since then, these cars have become sought after by collectors. The color palette, gold and silver, had me considering calling the painting 'Precious Metals', but it's about then, not now, and I knew the title had to reflect the energy and passion of the people at that time."- MICHAEL IRVINE

"F-BODY LOVES 'EM" — Pontiac Firebird and Chevrolet Camaro
Muscle cars were still in high demand in the late 1970s, and in 1979 GM had two of the finest — the Chevrolet Camaro and the Pontiac Firebird.
Designated as the F-Body by General Motors, the second generation Camaro and Firebird retained the rear-wheel drive pony car platform and style of long hood and short trunk, giving them that balanced look. When optioned with top-performance packages, these cars were formidable street machines that graced our neighborhoods, high school parking lots, and driveways throughout the 1970s and early 80s.
On this warm fall evening in 1979, with the end of the free spirited decade just around the corner, the crowd is out enjoying fast cars and fun times! Even the train engineer is getting in on the action. These powerful muscle cars are tearing up a quiet country road, cheered on by the enthusiastic onlookers. This Firebird Trans Am and Camaro Z-28 have bold graphics, t-tops, spoilers, hood scoops, incredible V8 power, and great handling ... which is why F-body loves 'em!
