One unique aspect of Michael's fine art is that he paints at 100% size — Limited Edition Prints and Artist Proofs with Custom Remarque are reproduced at the same size as his original paintings.
The translucency of watercolor enables Michael to create amazing reflections, subtle gradations, and especially fine detail, but it's a time consuming and challenging medium to work with. His highly detailed style combined with the fact that watercolor doesn't allow for "do-overs" means that a painting can take up to 4 months to complete. Michael loves big art, but you can imagine how long it might take to do a larger piece.
Our Gallery Edition Canvases allow you to experience all the amazing detail and vibrant color of one of Michael's watercolor paintings at twice the size of the original.
Michael's unequaled style allows for crisp, vibrant enlarged reproductions of his original automotive fine art.
We produce a very limited number (50) large Gallery Edition Canvases of each painting — all the incredible details, high impact colors, hidden gems, and stunning reflections, just BIGGER. The fact that these enlargements hold the integrity of his original paintings is a true testimony to the quality of Michael's craft. They are perfect for the den, office, home and garage (or car condo).
Giclée ("zhee-clay") is a method of printing that can create fine art reproductions that have all the tonalities and hues of the original painting.
We use the "True Giclée" method of art reproduction — special light-fast archival pigment inks on the highest museum quality heavy gauge acid-free archival canvas. Each Gallery Edition Canvas is coated with a special water-resistant protectant that has a UV component.
Every canvas is individually proofed, hand-signed and hand-numbered by Michael. It is accompanied by a certificate package which includes two Certificates of Authenticity (Authentic Michael Irvine Reproduction and True Giclée), a short bio on Michael, and the story behind the original painting.
Produced using special inks and with the application of our durable coating, our canvases are guaranteed to have a light-fastness of up to 200 years. If hung in a high-traffic/dusty area, they can be wiped down with a damp cloth using mild soap and water. Art should not be hung in direct sunlight.
Professional gallery wrap — the canvas is tightly hand-stretched and stapled onto solid hardwood stretcher bars that are a minimum of 1¼" deep.
You don't lose any of the painting on our Gallery Edition Canvases— the wrapped edges are solid black.
In the U.S.A. and Canada, Michael's Gallery Edition Canvases are professionally gallery wrapped onto a 1½" deep hardwood frame and wired — shipped ready to hang.
