What at first appears as an eclectic selection of paintings—featuring everything from the Challenger T/A and AAR Cuda, to the Mercury Marauder, Olds 442 W-30 and the 2004 Mach 1—is revealed to be a series of works all geared at taking advantage of the open road. Whether inspired by famous race cars, an annual automotive event, or just the exhilaration of driving fast, Michael captures the speed and excitement of travelling at top speed down the streets and backroads of America.
“These cars were (and are) all about performance, speed and styling. When I decided to create a painting featuring the Challenger and Cuda, I knew they could not be standing still. I wanted to capture the thrill of competition between the street versions of the famous race cars, while paying tribute to their true origins. What a rush it would have been... “These cars were (and are) all about...In Stock
“I’ve always liked the Chevelle and in convertible trim its sleek lines really come together. Wanting to capture the exhilaration of driving such a powerful car, I needed the right setting. I thought what better place to be with your car than on an open country road with fellow Chevelle owners, in friendly competition, doing what these high performance... “I’ve always liked the Chevelle and...In Stock
"I've heard the Olds 442 referred to as the 'gentleman's muscle car'. But there's no mistaking these powerful machines, especially out on the open road. That's why I chose the quiet rural setting, it gave me the opportunity to be able to show these cars at speed. "When the Motor City Marauders approached me about doing a painting featuring the 2003/2004 Marauder, they mentioned that each year they put on a show at the Burger King right on Woodward Ave. When Linda, the kids, and I attended the Cruise a few years back, it seemed like Duggan's was definatley a hot spot. I liked the look of the awning and signage at... "When the Motor City Marauders...In Stock
“I chose a long, low view to showcase the ’69 Charger’s exquisite body lines while focussing on the rear end … a view most competitors are familiar with. Unless, of course, the competitor is a 1971 Cuda sporting its own 440 and a six pack set up. Let the races begin!"- MICHAEL IRVINE “I chose a long, low view to showcase...In Stock
"When I first saw the Mach 1, I thought, 'How cool! A new Mustang with 305 hp, an R code engine designation, and a true, functioning Shaker hood scoop! Scott Hoag and Team Mustang did a great job with this one!' Right away, I knew I wanted to create a painting featuring the Shaker hood scoops, along with giving the viewer the feeling of speed. The name... "When I first saw the Mach 1, I...In Stock
